You must have already heard by now, it’s National Pancake Day! The day places like IHOP offer you a free short stack of pancakes from 7am -7pm. Last year, they served 6.6 million free pancakes, a stack, IHOP said, that would reach nearly 19 miles high.
I love that IHOP uses National Pancake Day to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals which is a hospital/cause close to our hearts here in North Texas as we also have our annual Cook Children’s Radiothon, part of the Children’s Miracle Network we do every fall. IHOP also supports Shriners Hospital for Children and other nonprofits with the donations they take in from diners on this day. In 2015, IHOP raised $3.5 million for children’s charities from donations.
“Every pancake we give away has a purpose on National Pancake Day,” Darren Rebelez, president of IHOP, said in a statement. “Through the generosity of our guests and the hard work and commitment of our franchisees and their team members, we will help fund life-saving treatment and care for children in need.”
Since IHOP started this National Pancake Day, giving tradition, they have raised over $20 million dollars and today they hope to raise another $3.5 million. If you decide to embark on a pancake journey today, be generous! Do it for the kids!
During our last Cook Children’s Radiothon we were able to raise, thanks to your generous donations $205,449! We hope to be able to do it again for this kiddos of North Texas this year.
