If you’re not familiar with an “artist rider”, this is a set of requests or demands that an artist sets as criteria for their performance at the venue/concert.
We’ve heard Carrie Underwood requests an vegetable tray, sugar-free Extra gum, peppermint Altoids and a well sanitized bathroom.
Blake Shelton requests 2 cases of light, canned beer and 2 bottles of Bacardi Clear Rum and a bottle of Cabernet. Also a few energy drinks and what we found interesting, a Pizza Hut “Meat Lovers” or Stuffed Crust “Supreme” pizza after his performance.
Keith Urban is a healthy guy when it comes to his requests. He eats two breakfasts, one before his work out and another after. He requests no butter is used in any of his meals.
Kid Rock‘s requests are a little more specific. He asks for a selection of Fruit of the Loom or Hanes underwear. A pack of white T-shirts, white tank tops, white boxer shorts and a pack of white crew socks.
If you think any of those were strange, check out what Katy Perry requests. “Allegedly”, and i’ll say allegedly cause ya never know, she has a “principle driver policy”. One rule is that drivers must not talk to Katy nor look at her through the rear-view mirror.
Mary J. Blige‘s tour rider? She asks that each venue install a brand new toilet.
Sugar-free gum doesn’t sound like a strange request after all. I’ve been present for one request from one artist who I wont name ONLY wanted black solo cups backstage. The venue had to go out to a party store to find these particular cups or they ran the risk of this artist not playing their show as they would be breaking the contract.
