DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — A new study commissioned by Car Insurance Companies has determined that Dallas is the third most dangerous city in the nation for drivers. Factors determining the rankings included traffic-related deaths per capita as reported by the National Highway Safety Administration, the likelihood of getting in a wreck and vehicle theft rates.
The NHSA research counted 14.5 deaths per 100,000 drivers in Dallas and 590 thefts for every 100,000 vehicles on the road.
Here is the top ten list, starting with the worst city for drivers, Baton Rouge:
1. Baton Rouge, La.
2. Savannah, Ga.
3. Dallas
4. Detroit, Mich.
5. St. Louis, Mo.
6. Atlanta
7. New Orleans
8. Cleveland
9. Sacramento, Calif.
10. Louisville, Ky.
WFAA reports there are three other Texas cities in the top 25: Mesquite is No. 16, Houston is No. 19 and Fort Worth is No. 21.
