Born in the heart of Dallas, legend Stevie Ray Vaughan got his start gigging here in North Texas. One of the very first places he performed live with his band was the Hill Theater in Cockrell Hill. The City of Cockrell Hill will be honoring Stevie Ray Vaughan with a park in the area that once was home to the Hill Theater. The park will also include an outdoor stage which hopes will encourage others to grow their love for music. This park also features a mural with early pictures of the legend. The free event will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, food trucks, a kids area and various live bands including Texas Flood, a Stevie Ray Vaughan Tribute Band.
Our own Michelle Rodriguez from the Hawkeye in the Morning show will serve as emcee for the event on Saturday, this also happens to be her hometown where she was born and raised.
