Actor Sam Shepard has died from complications from Lou Gehrig’s disease according to family spokesperson. He was 73.

He was in the movies, “Steel Magnolias”, “Dash and Lilly” and “Black Hawk Down” in 2001, among a slew of other projects. Most recently starring in Netflix’s “Bloodline” and in this year’s “Never Here,” which hit movie theaters in June.

Actor and playwright Sam Shepard has died at the age of 73, according to US media. He won the Pulitzer Prize for drama for Buried Child in 1979. He went on to be nominated for the best supporting actor Oscar for 1983 film The Right Stuff and starred in films like Black Hawk Down.
